Ala Mairi

Behind every Ala Mairi creation is a story generations in the making. Our artisans from Scotland and Pakistan are the keepers of this story, bringing a deeply personal love for craftsmanship to each piece in our exclusive new collection.

By providing a showcase for their ‘works of art’, Ala Mairi builds constructive and dynamic relationships with handloom weavers and their communities in Scotland. We bring to the fore the heritage of their diverse skills.

As a social enterprise, Ala Mairi works closely with women’s welfare centres in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. There, women learn traditional, intricate hand embroidery, fine needlework and expertise that, in time, will be passed down to future generations. Through connecting these artisans with the larger world of luxury fashion, we enable them to use their talents to earn a sustainable income.

We believe strongly in the need to foster and preserve these skills. That’s why all of our creators are independent, small-scale and true to the rich traditions of Scottish and Pakistani craftsmanship. By merging these cultures together, Ala Mairi creates designs that are altogether unique and delightfully unexpected.
